Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

DO YOU STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?

I offer free 15-minute phone consultations to help answer any remaining questions you may have about the therapeutic process, my approach to counseling, and what you can expect when beginning therapy.

I understand that choosing a therapist is an important decision, and I want you to feel comfortable and informed before getting started. For your convenience, I have included answers to some of the most frequently asked questions below.

If you have a question that is not addressed, please feel free to reach out at info@blaccenter.com. I would be happy to connect with you and provide additional information.

At this time, I provide telehealth services only through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.

As a Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH), I am trained and credentialed to deliver the same ethical, professional, and high-quality standard of care expected in traditional in-person therapy. Telehealth offers the flexibility and convenience of receiving support from the comfort and privacy of your own space while still fostering a meaningful therapeutic relationship.

The length and frequency of therapy vary based on your unique needs, goals, and circumstances. During our first session, we'll discuss what brings you to therapy, identify your goals, and develop a plan that fits your schedule and supports your progress.

Some clients benefit from short-term counseling focused on a specific concern, while others choose longer-term therapy for ongoing personal growth and healing. We will regularly check in on your progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed.

No. I welcome clients from all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences.

While BLAC Center was founded to increase access to culturally responsive mental health care and to uplift historically marginalized communities, my practice is inclusive and open to anyone seeking compassionate, affirming, and evidence-based counseling. I strive to create a space where every client feels respected, valued, and supported.

I offer both self-pay and insurance options to make counseling as accessible as possible.

For clients choosing the self-pay option, payment is due at the time of each session and is processed securely through my online payment system. I accept debit cards, credit cards, HSA cards, and FSA cards for your convenience.

If you plan to use insurance, I'm in-network with several insurance plans. Before your first appointment, I'll be happy to verify whether I'm in-network with your plan and help you understand your coverage and benefits, so you know what to expect.

If cost is a concern, I understand that therapy is an investment, and I don't want finances to be the only barrier to receiving support. I offer a limited number of reduced-fee appointments for individuals experiencing financial hardship. If this applies to you, please don't hesitate to reach out; we can discuss your situation and determine whether a reduced fee may be available.

My goal is to make the payment process as simple, transparent, and stress-free as possible so you can focus on your healing and well-being.

BLAC Center is not a crisis or emergency service.

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, are in immediate danger, or believe you may harm yourself or someone else, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing or texting 988. Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice.

Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice or missed appointments ("no-shows"), may be subject to a cancellation fee. Providing advance notice allows me to offer your appointment time to another client who may be waiting for care.

If an emergency arises, please contact me as soon as possible so we can discuss your situation.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care

provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
